What I've done
This is why I ran for council. We have worked towards taking the tax burden primarily off of residents and farmers, and bringing in and supporting local businesses to balance out our taxes.
Pushed and implemented a tax holiday bylaw. Giving new businesses in the county the opportunity to have up to three years of tax breaks to help them get their business off the ground.
Lowered taxes significantly for businesses in the county, as well as to attract new development to the county
Hired a full-time economic development officer
We have seen significant business development in the county in the last year. Including a distillery and a large sand and gravel operation
Development approval has gotten faster; we're significantly faster than other municipalities.
Creation of the Westlock Economic Development Committee, which is focused on attracting Large businesses to the Westlock Region, something I've advocated for since day 1.
What I will do
Continue to lower Taxes for local businesses to help them grow.
Vote to improve our industrial yard amenities to support the businesses we have there, as well as to attract more interest to our available sites
Have more subdivisions approved and ensure Westlock County is a viable place for people to move and raise families
