What I've Done
This Term. We've successfully lowered tax rates across the board. Something that this county has never done. I'm incredibly proud to have delivered on my promise to residents 6 years ago.
Farmland Taxes 28 mils -> 25 mils
Residential Taxes 5.3 mils -> 5 mils
Commercial Taxes 28 mils -> 22 mils
In advocating for lower taxes, I've always ensured that I back it up with real data, efficiencies, cuts, and whatever sacrifices need to be made to make our county more competitive. It's easy to say you're for low taxes, but very few councillors put in the work to find ways to do it. Every November, when we have budget deliberations, you'll always see me at the forefront advoacting for lower taxes.

What I Will Do
- We're not done yet... I'd like to see our taxes even lower to be closer to equilibrium with our neighboring counties. By the end of this next term, Westlock County will NO LONGER be in conversation as one of the highest taxed rural jurisdictions in Alberta.
- Lowering taxes is not easy. I continue to advocate for a balanced approach where we lower taxes as fast as we can - while not taking away from our critical infrastructure spending (roads.)
- I've included some graphs below from the AB government website on our progress on becoming more competitive with our neighbors, from 2020 to 2024.
