What I've done
Successfully advocated for grader GPS reports online. You can now see when your road was last graded.
Implemented a road standards policy, which holds us accountable to how many days it should take to plow a road
Division 5 has had the most gravel laid for the majority of the term.
Worked on fixing key Drainage issues effecting roads including redoing drainage for the Hamlet of Nestow.
Every time election year rolls around, you hear that every candidate will "Fix the roads." And then, in four years, you hear the same thing from new candidates, claiming that the old candidate did nothing to fix them. This saying has been repeated more than i can remember since i was a kid... with no real concrete solutions. I've said since i first ran that the solution in the long run is to create more revenue. This is not an overnight fix. Large sums of revenue do not just come magically. Refer to my "More Business for the County" section to see what I'm doing to ensure we have more money to put into Roads
What i will do
With new streams of revenue coming into the county, i will ensure we don't waste it on "wants" and more focus on "needs" which to me is the roads.
Will advocate for new revenue to be put towards Enzyme treatments and Underlay for our roads. Revenue issues have prevented council from voting for it in the past.
Will continue to drive main roads (Sunniebend, Anton Lake, 620, etc) as often as possible and do the majority of the division every season.
If revenue allows, advocate for small bad sections of road in our area to be rebuilt. Sections such as east of Hwy 2 on Sunniened by the spring. Or the hill on 613A that continues to have issues with washboard.
